Understanding the Backgammon Board Set up
A backgammon board set up is not really as difficult as it may seem. There are a few set up rules for the backgammon board set up. To have a proper backgammon board set up, you will need to have thirty playing discs (fifteen each of two different colors), a backgammon playing board, and two die with six sides each. Each of the two players will decide which color they want to be and then set up the board accordingly.
Begin by preparing the backgammon board by placing it on a flat surface. The backgammon board is divided into two halves; the outer board and the home board. The two halves are divided by the bar. The triangles that go across the game board on both sides of the board are called points. Each player will begin preparing the board by placing fifteen playing discs on the points in the following manner: each player places five discs on the point closest to the bar of his home side, each player also places two playing discs on the point farthest from the bar on his home side, each player then places three playing discs on the second point from the bar on the outer board, finally each player places five more discs on the point farthest from the bar within the outer board of their opponent’s side.
It does not matter how the backgammon board set up is place on the playing table as long as both player’s home board is on the same side that they are seated. Once the backgammon board is ready, the game is ready to be played.
